Who We Are
The Omaha Scotch Whisky Society was founded by whisky enthusiasts who believed Omaha deserved a warm, serious, and welcoming community for people who enjoy Scotch whisky — or want to learn more about it.
We are not built around snobbery, collecting trophies, or memorizing tasting notes. We are built around the simple idea that whisky is better when shared with good people.
Some members may love smoky Islay malts. Others may prefer soft Speyside pours, rich sherried Highland whiskies, or a first guided tasting flight. All are welcome at the same table.

We host curated tastings designed to help members explore Scotch regions, distillery styles, cask influence, aroma, flavor, and finish.
Education Without Intimidation
We believe whisky education should be useful, enjoyable, and plainspoken. You do not need to know everything before you join.

The Society creates a place where newcomers and longtime enthusiasts can meet, talk, taste, and build friendships.

We explore distilleries, bottle stories, rare releases, regional traditions, and the wider world of whisky with Scotch at the center.
Our Approach
Whisky tasting is deeply personal. Scores and rankings can be helpful, but they are not the heart of the experience. For us, the better question is:
Would you pour this dram again?
That question keeps whisky approachable. It makes room for curiosity. It lets beginners and experienced drinkers speak honestly from their own palate.
We encourage members to notice aroma, taste, texture, finish, memory, setting, and company — because whisky is never only what is in the glass.
Responsible Enjoyment
The Omaha Scotch Whisky Society promotes responsible enjoyment of whisky. Our events are designed around appreciation, learning, moderation, and safety.

- Fine whisky is meant to be enjoyed together thoughtfully, never rushed.

Do I need to be a Scotch expert to join?
No. The Society is designed for all experience levels, from curious beginners to longtime whisky enthusiasts.
Is the Society only about Scotch?
Scotch is our center of gravity. We may occasionally explore bourbon, Irish whiskey, Japanese whisky, Indian whisky, world whisky, wine, gin, tequila, and other spirits, but Scotch remains the Society’s foundation.
Can guests attend events?
Some events may be open to guests, depending on the venue, format, and available space. Member events may receive priority.
What is the founding member rate?
The current founding member rate is $49 per year for 18 months, available through December 31, 2026.
Where are events held?
Events may be held at local venues, partner locations, private event spaces, or other Omaha-area settings appropriate for tastings and educational gatherings.
