🥃 Opening Dram
Early summer has a way of inviting conversation to linger a little longer. The evenings stretch out, the air softens, and a dram taken slowly feels perfectly in step with the season.
One of the quiet pleasures of whisky is that it rewards patience. The first sip introduces the spirit; the second begins the conversation. By the third, you may find the whisky telling you something you hadn’t expected.
Think of this month’s dram as a gentle reminder that good whisky rarely rushes.
🏴 Featured Whisky
Whisky of the Month: Glenmorangie 10 Year Old (The Original)
Highlands · Single Malt · 40% ABV
Few whiskies demonstrate balance as gracefully as Glenmorangie 10. Matured in American oak casks, it offers a lighter Highland style that remains remarkably expressive.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Citrus, peach, vanilla, soft floral notes
- Palate: Honey, malt sweetness, orange peel
- Finish: Clean, bright, and lightly sweet
Glenmorangie shows that elegance does not require intensity. Sometimes the most memorable whiskies are the ones that speak quietly.
🌎 Beyond Scotland
Japanese Whisky Sidebar: Nikka Coffey Grain
Distilled by Nikka Whisky, this whisky is produced in a traditional Coffey still, creating a remarkably silky texture.
Caramel, vanilla, and tropical fruit appear immediately, offering a sweeter profile than many Scotch whiskies. Side-by-side with Glenmorangie, notice how both share elegance—yet arrive there by entirely different paths.
📝 Society Notes
Our next Society gathering will be announced shortly. Keep an eye on omahawhisky.org for details.
- Members are encouraged to begin keeping tasting notes—Appearance, Aroma, Taste, and Finish. Over time, these notes become a personal whisky library.
- If you discover a dram worth sharing, send your recommendation to briefing@omahawhisky.org
Society grows best through shared stewardship.
✒ Closing Thought
A dram enjoyed alone can be memorable.
A dram shared becomes a story.
Until next month, Sláinte
